The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released easily or naturally.
Wind slabs can still in isolated cases be released, even by a single winter sport participant and reach large size. This applies especially above approximately 2400 m, as well as adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. Increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches until the temperature drops. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural moist avalanches are possible over a wide area. The current avalanche situation calls for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and caution.
Over a wide area over a wide area 60 to 80 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Tuesday above approximately 1800 m. The new snow has bonded well with the old snowpack in particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2500 m. The new snow of last week is lying on a crust on sunny slopes. The snowpack will become moist at low and intermediate altitudes. The old snowpack is largely stable. In these regions up to 10 cm of snow will fall.
