The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

Above approximately 1500 m snow fell on Thursday. The fresh snow of the last two days and in particular the sometimes deep wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant, in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas in particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation caution is to be exercised in particular on steep slopes along the border with France.

Over a wide area over a wide area 15 to 25 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Thursday above approximately 2000 m. Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. Large-grained weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The old snowpack remains generally stable.

As a consequence of the snowfall the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent.
