In sintesi

Over a wide area significant warming. The wind slabs represent the main danger.

Problemi valanghivi

  • Wind slab

    • Above 1,700 m
  • Wet snow

    • Above 1,700 m

Snowpack Structure

The wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the snowpack.

Tendency

The weather conditions will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack.

Avalanche Activity

Over a wide area significant warming. The wind slabs represent the main danger.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads,. As a consequence of warming and solar radiation, the natural avalanche activity will gradually increase. In the event of solar radiation caution is to be exercised in particular at the base of rock walls. Slides can occur on cut slopes.
