Problemi valanghivi

  • Wind slab

    • Above 2,500 m

Avalanche Activity

The clearly visible wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger.

As a consequence of a strong wind from westerly directions, wind slabs formed at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on northeast to southeast to south facing aspects. In particular in high Alpine regions these avalanche prone locations are more prevalent.

Snowpack Structure

10 to 20 cm of snow has fallen since Monday above approximately 2500 m. In all altitude zones only a little snow is now lying. The snowpack is largely stable. The rain gave rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the snowpack over a wide area below approximately 2400 m. And the total melting of snow below about 2200-2000 m.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will decrease.
