In sintesi

The General Avalanche Hazard will increase from CONSIDERABLE to HIGH today at upper elevations as heavy snowfall and winds are added to eight inches from the past 24 hours. Natural activity has been reported on road cuts on Teton Pass and is expected in slide paths in the backcountry. Very sensitive slides were reported yesterday on a variety of aspects to a foot in depth. Those slabs will be much larger and more dangerous today particularly in chutes and near ridgecrests. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED TODAY. At mid elevations the hazard will increase through the day also and be in the CONSIDERABLE range. At the low elevations the danger is MODERATE. Natural slides have been reported in the Snake River Canyon. Increasing snow and wind will make slides possible in steep areas like ravines and roadcuts and could be large enough to be dangerous.Teton Pass will be closed this morning at 9 a.m. for avlalanche reduction. Parking at the summit will be closed.
