An avalanche watch issued by the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center has been upgraded to a warning. Dangerous unstable slabs up to four feet in depth are likely to release naturally or be human triggered. The Wyoming Department of Trasnporation triggered an avalanche in Glory Bowl at 3 AM that ran to the highway. Natural avalanche activity occured in the Cow of the Woods avalanche path yesterday afternoon and evening. Similar larger natural events are expected today. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommeded.

The mild moist westerly flow will bring more snowfall to the mountains before colder air moves into the region Friday night. The mountains are likely to get another 5 to 10 inches and the valleys 3 to 5 inches by Friday afternoon. This precipitation will be accompanied by strong ridgetop winds (30 to 40 MPH with gusts to 65). The avalanche warning issued Thursday morning is in effect overnight and is likely to be extended depending on conditions Friday morning. The general avalanche hazard is expected to HIGH on Friday. Large natural and human triggered avalanches are likely. Travel in avalanche is not recommended.
