Avalanche Summary

You can trigger small avalanches in recently drifted snow at upper elevations. Look for and avoid rounded pillows of drifted snow below ridges and in gullies. Cracking in the snow indicates unstable snow. With a generally weak snowpack, any avalanche you trigger could gouge down to the ground. Drifted slopes above terrain traps are most worrisome, where small slides could bury you more easily.
