Avalanche Discussion
Another shot of snow expected Friday night should bring another 3-6" to the higher elevations and 1-3 inches in the valleys. 20-30mph winds from the Southwest to West will accompany this moisture. The chance for lingering snow showers will continue throughout the day Saturday with mountain highs in the upper twenties to low thirties and valley highs in the upper thirties. AVALANCHE HAZARD FOR THE TETONS, TOGWOTEE PASS/CONTINENTAL DIVIDE, GREYS RIVER/SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREASThe avalanche hazard through Saturday is LOW. There is insufficient snow amounts for avalanches below 9000'. The hazard is limited to very small isolated pockets of wind loaded snow that lie upon an early October crust in a few very steep, very high, north facing slopes.
