Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard remains MODERATE above an elevation of 8,500 feet. Pockets of surface slab up to 18 inches in depth persist and could be human triggered. Below an elevation of 8,500 feet the snowpack is mostly stable and the general avalanche hazard is LOW.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Temperatures will cool to 5 or 10 degrees below zero in the Tetons and Salt River/Greys areas and as cold as 15 below zero around Togwotee Pass. Monday's high mountain temperatures will be in the single digits above zero with a chance of occasional snow flurries. Winds will be northwesterly at 10 miles per hour during the night then at dawn Monday they will back to westerly and blow at 10 to 15 during the day.The snowpack is mostly stable on typical avalanche terrain in the Tetons. Backcountry travelers could trigger slides to 18 inches in depth on very steep slopes at upper elevations in isolated pockets. Slopes that steepen above to cliff bands or cornices, or rest above cliffs should be avoided. The general avalanche hazard will be LOW in the Tetons on Monday. In the Wyoming Range/Greys River area and the Togwotee Pass area slabs to 18 inches in depth are more widespread and the hazard will be Moderate.
