Tetons
Pericolo valanghe
In sintesi
Temperatures overnight remained above freezing. The top of Teton Pass, for example only cooled to 39 degrees. Low avalanche hazard during the early morning will quickly elevate to Considerable hazard by the afternoon as sunlight and rapidly warming temperatures weaken the snowpack. Wet slab and wet loose avalanches will become possible at all elevations today and may release naturally.
Avalanche Discussion
Very warm conditions are to continue. Overnight temperatures are to be near the freezing point at all elevations. Highs tomorrow are to be slightly warmer with clearer skies allowing temperatures to quickly rise to the upper forties or possibly higher. Winds are to be southwesterly with averages near fifteen miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard will rise from Low in the early morning hours to Considerable as the warm trend softens the snow surface and weakens the snowpack as the effects of the sustained heat penetrate deeper into the snow. Natural wet loose activity will be likely in steep terrain and wet slabs or larger wet loose events will be possible.
