A few inches of new snow lies upon a mostly stable snowpack that has undergone repeated melt freeze cycles. A large pacific low pressure trough will slowly move over the area tonight through Saturday. Periods of snow are expected through that time as an overall cooling trend with daytime warming brings the snowline to the valley floor overnight, increasing to 7500 feet during the day and again lowering Friday night. Mountain high temperatures near thirty degrees are expected. West winds with averages above twenty miles per overnight are to back to the south and have averages of ten to fifteen miles per hour Friday afternoon. The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain Low on Friday. Newly formed shallow soft slabs or loose snow sluffs could be triggered in very steep terrain above 8500 feet. Avoid terrain such as cliff areas where small slides could still carry harsh consequences.
