Avalanche Activity

Weak layers near the ground represent the main danger.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. This applies in particular on very steep shady slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads. Natural avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. Over a wide area a little snow is lying. Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack. The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls.

Tendency

The weather will be cloudy.
