Avalanche Activity

Old wind slabs at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Wet avalanches during the day are the main danger.

The wind slabs of the last three days are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2600 m. The prevalence of avalanche prone locations and likelihood of triggering will increase with altitude. Experience in the assessment of avalanche danger is required. A clear night will be followed in the early morning by favourable avalanche conditions, but the danger of wet avalanches will increase later.

Snowpack Structure

The strong wind has transported the new snow. The old snowpack will be generally stable. Less snow than usual is lying. On sunny slopes below approximately 2400 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. As a consequence of low temperatures the snowpack consolidated.

Tendency

The danger of dry avalanches will decrease. The danger of wet avalanches will increase during the day.
