NC for 31.03 Localised windslab instabilities on SE to SW aspects above 1000m. Avalanche Hazard Moderate.
Forecast Snow Stability: Localised, fresh deposits of moderately bonded windslab are expected to accumulate on mostly South-East to South-West aspects above 1000 metres. Areas affected will be where accumulations achieve depth, especially in wind sheltered locations such as depressions, corrie headwalls and gully lines. Elsewhere the remaining snowpack will remain hard and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate strength Northerly winds. Light snow showers are expected throughout the forecast period. The freezing level will be around 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Light Northerly winds. Intermittent light snow showers. Freezing level rose to around 600 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Isolated pockets of shallow windslab are present on South-East to South-West aspects above 1000 metres. These are shallow and easily avoidable. Elsewhere a dusting of fresh snow overlays the existing hard, stable snowpack which remains mostly on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
