Avalanche Activity

TO for 28.02. Isolated windslab on steep wind sheltered terrain above 850m on N through E to SE aspects. Avalanche Hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain generally stable on all aspects, with some isolated shallow accumulations building onto steep wind sheltered terrain above 850 metres. These accumulations will be isolated forming around coire rims and steep scarp slopes on North through East to South-East aspects. At lower levels there will be some softening of the snowpack. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be South to South-Westerly winds overnight, weakening slightly to become strong South-Westerly. Overnight freezing levels will be around 1000 to 1100 metres, then lowering through the day to 600 metres by the end of the forecast period. It will be dry at first then light scattered snow showers overnight and tomorrow. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a dry and clear morning. Winds were strong Southerly. The freezing level was around 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has generally good stability throughout. Isolated and very shallow accumulations of fresh snow have develop above 900 meters on steep North-West to North-East aspects. The snowpack continues to thaw at lower elevations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
