GC for 13/03. Dusting of fresh snow above 900 metres. Snowpack generally stable in all locations. Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Above 1050 metres the snowpack will consolidate in the cooler conditions. Below this level it will continue to slowly thaw. Stability will be generally good throughout. There will be a shallow covering of fresh snow above 900 metres. Although some minor surface instabilities will exist, these accumulations will in general be very shallow. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A period of light precipitation overnight will be followed by some light showers through the day. In both cases this will fall as snow above 900 metres. The freezing level will be around 1000 metres overnight rising to 1100 metres during the day. Winds will be from the South-East. Observed Weather Influences: Showers through the day fell as wet snow above 900 metres and rain at lower levels. Moderate winds were from the South. The freezing level was around 1150 metres during the morning, falling slightly during the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The spring snowpack continues to thaw and consolidate at all levels. There was a dusting of fresh snow above 1000 metres. However, these fresh accumulations were not significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
