The snowpack across all forecast areas is generally stable thpough warmer oovernight temperatures will allow snow surfaces to warm earlier. Enter the mountains early and exit slopes before snow becomes wet or slushy. Keep falling cornices  on your radar as you travel and be prepared to manage small, human-triggered wet loose avalanches as the snow warms.

This is our final daily, 5-scale forecast for the season. We will issue General Avalanche Information Bulletins twice per week as needed and publish 24-hour weather data daily through May.

The recent most snowfall (April 4, ~16") has been subjected to multiple melt-freeze cycles on solar aspects at all elevations and northerly aspects below about 9,000'.  Last night's temperatures reached the low 30s under clear skies which aided a light refreeze of the snow's surface. Expect the high April sun and warmer temperatures today to soften the surface snow quickly this morning. You'll find useful information here from Joey's trip to GTNP yesterday.

 Wet loose sluffs could be a problem in narrow couloirs and above cliff bands. Pay attention to boot and ski penetration, if you start sinking deeply, you've found potential wet avalanche problems. Cornices remain a lingering threat until they fall off or melt so watch what's above you and keep a conservative distance between yourself and the edge. Beware of undermined snow in minefields and over creek-beds; falling into a stream under the snowpack can be deadly. Dry snow remains on shady, north facing slopes above 9,000' but there's some hiking involved to get there.
