In sintesi

Triggering an avalanche on Friday will be unlikely. Watch for signs of unstable snow on isolated terrain features on steep slopes.

Wind slabs formed earlier in the week have had time to settle and bond with the old snow surfaces.

As the wind speeds picked up on Thursday, new shallow wind slabs may have formed at the mid and upper elevations in isolated pockets of terrain on lee slopes. Triggering a wind slab on Friday will be unlikely and if you do trigger a wind slab, it will result in a small avalanche, Be aware of the terrain below you; steep slopes or terrain traps can increase the consequence of triggering a small avalanche.

Avalanche Discussion

No avalanche activity or signs of unstable snow have been reported in the last few days.

At the lowest elevations in the forecast zone, such as around Santiam Pass, the snow surface may warm up enough to bring on some roller balls, pinwheels, and small wet loose avalanches on slopes with direct sun exposure.
