In sintesi

Cold temperatures, following last weeks warm period with significant rain has resulted in a stable snowpack in which a hard crust prevails near the snow surface. A few inches of new snow lies upon that hard crust. Watch for unstable new snow on isolated terrain features and for early season hazards.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A weak system is to bring one to five inches of snow to the mountains overnight with minimal accumulations at low elevations although temperatures will remain below freezing. Dry conditions with partially clearing skies and highs in the twenties are expected on Friday. Winds will be westerly with 10-20 mph averages. The general avalanche hazard will remain LOW. Isolated pockets of small and shallow wind slabs may form in steep leeward terrain above 9000 feet.
