In sintesi

Small wet loose avalanches will be likely on Saturday on solar slopes below and near treeline. On lee slopes where deeper wind drifts exist, larger slab avalanches will be increasingly possible to trigger as the sun weakens the upper snowpack. Evaluate snow and terrain carefully before committing to any steep slopes.

    With Saturday's warm up, we could see old, stubborn wind slabs from Wednesday's storm become more reactive to triggering, with sun exposure weakening the slab interface. The stubborn nature of these wind slabs will make them difficult to predict. Large triggers (e.g. cornice fall) will make them more likely to trigger, as will steep unsopported slopes.  On heavily wind-loaded slopes, these avalanches could be large.  It is worth giving yourself extra margin for safety on Saturday, as typical red flags such as cracking and collapsing are less likely to present themselves as warnings.

    Wet loose avalanches will be possible on any sheltered, sun-facing slope where recent snow remains mostly unconsolidated. On the steepest, sunniest slopes, especially at lower elevations, these slides will be likely to trigger. These avalanches will mostly be small, but even small slides can knock you off your feet and have high consequence when in the presence of terrain traps.

    The key with this problem will be monitoring conditions. Keep an eye on how the upper snowpack is responding to warm air temperatures and sun exposure. If it starts to become wet, heavy, or slushy, then wet loose avalanches can happen. Look out for roller balls coming down steep slopes or recent wet loose avalanches. These are great indicators that you can trigger an avalanche.

Recently formed cornices will be fragile and could be easily broken as the day heats up. Be cautious when approaching ridge tops if you can't see below, and avoid stepping out onto a cornice, as it will be more likely to break under the weight of a person.
