In sintesi

Around 5” of new snow and moderate winds will continue to form reactive wind slabs up to 1' deep above 2,500’. These can be found below ridgelines and convex rolls, and in cross loaded gullies where blowing snow tends to pile up. Exposing one person at a time in steep terrain and watching your partners from safe spots will help you react faster if the slope slides.

    A total of 5” of snow was reported from the storm over the past two days. Winds out of the north look lighter around Snug Harbor, however, Lost Lake and Seward may average 10 to 20 mph which is enough to blow fresh snow into reactive wind slabs up to a foot deep. These will likely be smaller and located in wind loaded terrain features such as below ridgelines and convex rolls. If the snow feels firm under your feet and you see cracks shooting out around you, there’s a good chance you’re on a wind slab. Executing safe travel practices such as exposing one person at a time and utilizing safe spots will increase your chances of a positive outcome if you trigger one of these.

    Dry Loose avalanches could grow larger than expected and take you off your feet in steep terrain. The worst case scenario is that you get pushed into some trees so be aware if the snow beneath you begins to slide.
