Avalanche Activity

The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on steep slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. In particular on steep sunny slopes and at the base of rock walls moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.

In high Alpine regions and on steep slopes the avalanche danger is moderate (level 2). At low and intermediate altitudes the snowpack is well bonded. In particular on steep sunny slopes and at the base of rock walls small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to increasing consolidation of the snowpack over a wide area in particular on sunny slopes at low and intermediate altitudes. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on north, northeast and west facing slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released by large additional loads at elevated altitudes.
