The avalanche danger is Low avalanche on Thursday. Travel conditions may be improving slightly with an inch or two of fresh snow. Stay aware of slip and fall hazards if you travel over steep slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

A few inches of snow may fall on Thursday if we're lucky. This will sit over recent crusts that could be supportable or breakable depending on aspect and elevation. Firm and icy conditions could be dangerous on many steep slopes, and a slip could result in a long slide.

Open creeks and downed trees pose another hazard while traveling through the mountains. Plan your route accordingly.

An impressive storm and resulting avalanche cycle occurred on January 11-13th in the area. While the avalanche danger is low, continue to practice awareness of overhead hazards, and stay tuned to changing weather and snow conditions.

During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, continue to follow the latest guidance from local, state, and federal health officials. Avoid unnecessary risks that could impact first responders and stress medical resources.  Wear a mask when appropriate, practice social distancing, and consider recreating closer to home.
