Although the snowpack is mostly stable a chance may remain for a person to trigger an isolated pocket of wind slab less than a foot in depth in avalanche stating zones at the higher elevations. These slabs will most likely be found, above 9,000 feet, on terrain features with wind drifted snow. Due to the early season conditions and thin snowpack, even a small slide could have high consequences.

Tomorrow will be another day of sunny skies with a valley inversion. Mountain temperatures are expected to drop into the teens overnight and then climb above freezing during the day. Valley lows will drop into the single digits and warm into the twenties and thirties. Ridgetop winds will be light and variable with the predominant direction switching from northerly to southerly. Across the region, the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. The avalanche hazard shall be Low. The snowpack is thin, and there is large variability in the snow’s surfaces and structure. At the upper elevations, assess slopes for wind drifted features or weak basal layers. The main hazard is still the lack of snow and objects just below the surface.
