The snowpack is mostly stable. Moderate winds may be forming isolated pockets of wind slab in upper elevation avalanche starting zones. These slabs could build to depths of one foot and may become large enough to knock over a person and carry them a long distance on very steep terrain features. Keep an eye out for drifting snow, and avoid steep slopes with significant deposits. Practice social distancing directives. Conservatives terrain choices are warranted given the current health care concerns.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A large low-pressure system is dropping south along the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest. As the leading edge of this low moves into Western Wyoming snow shower activity will increase and will continue to favor the southern portions of the Greys River area. Snowfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are likely down there during the next 24 hours. A weak cold front will pass through the region later tonight. On Wednesday temperatures will be in the single digits and teens in the mountains and rise from the teens into the 30’s in the valleys. Winds will veer to the west at 15 to 25 miles per hour.Cooler temperatures will decrease the wet snow avalanche hazard. Moderate southwest to west winds will continue to form small pockets of wind slab at the upper elevations. Those slabs could be triggered by humans with depths to 18 inches. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be moderate above an elevation of 9,000 feet in the Greys River/Southwest Trails area and between an elevation of 9,000 and 10,500 feet in the Teton area. In those areas the hazard will be low below 9,000 feet . The hazard is expected to be low at all elevations of the Togwotee Pass area.
