Avalanche Activity

Some snow fell yesterday. The avalanche danger will persist.

On very steep slopes small and medium sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. Avalanches can additionally be released in deep layers, in particular by large additional loads. This applies in particular above approximately 2800 m, in particular on extremely steep northeast, north and west facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

In some regions 5 cm of snow fell on Wednesday above approximately 2000 m. The small quantity of fresh snow and isolated wind slabs are lying on a crust. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes.

Tendency

Gradual increase in danger of dry avalanches as a consequence of the snowfall.
