LO for 21/2. Old snowpack will be stable. Fresh windslab mainly on steep NE, E and SE aspects above 900m. Moderate hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will be frozen and stable. Fresh areas of unstable windslab will form in sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations will be on steep North-East, East and South-East aspects above 900 metres. Fresh cornices will also form above the aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Fresh snow overnight above 400 metres with the freezing level rising to 800 metres during Monday. Winds will be strong, from the West, veering to become North-West later. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing level rose above the summits overnight before gradually falling to 600 metres by mid afternoon. Strong South-Westerly winds and snow showers. ObservedSnowStability: After a period of instability overnight, the existing snowpack has started to freeze and consolidate at all levels. Some fresh deposits of windslab are forming in wind sheltered locations, but accumulations are not significant. Overall snowpack stability is generally good. The avalanche hazard is Low.
