Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
The conditions are spring-like. In some localities increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. More small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized natural moist avalanches are possible, caution is to be exercised in particular on steep sunny slopes. Intermediate altitudes: As the day progresses, a few moist snow slides are possible, this also applies on very steep shady slopes. Backcountry tours, off-piste skiing and ascents to alpine cabins should be concluded timely. Avalanches can in some places be released in the old snowpack on steep shady slopes. These avalanche prone locations are rare and are therefore barely recognisable.
The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will already be soft in the early morning. Less snow than usual is lying. On sunny slopes between approximately 2200 and 2400 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. In the last three days on steep sunny slopes only isolated mostly small avalanches were reported. This applies below approximately 2800 m, as well as at the base of rock walls.
The danger of moist and wet avalanches will not decrease for the time being.
