Forecast Snow Stability: New snow amounts will remain largely insignificant, mostly an overall dusting above 500 metres, with isolated slightly deeper accumulations in high sheltered East to South aspects. The patchy older snowpack will be frozen, well consolidated and stable throughout, very firm at higher elevations. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: The scattered wintry showers will ease overnight, leaving a largely dry day. The strong Northerly airflow will moderate overnight, backing Westerly by the end of the period. The freezing level will dip to near glen levels overnight, but will gradually rise to around 700 metres through the day. Observed Weather Influences: A day of scattered wintry showers with snow settling at 600 metres and above by midday. There was a strong North-West wind and summit gales. The freezing level lowered to around 550 metres by early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: New snow amounts are largely insignificant, with an overall dusting of fresh snow above 600 metres. The patchy older snowpack is refrozen and stable throughout, firm at higher elevations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
