Forecast Snow Stability: The snow cover will continue to thaw and soften with wet snow instabilities possible on steep terrain on West through North to Easterly aspects above 900 metres. Elsewhere the remaining snow will be soft but well bonded. Cornice collapse and ice falling from the crag will be significant hazards. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: An unpleasant day is likely with freezing levels rising above the summits, rain throughout and storm force winds, mostly South-Easterly. Observed Weather Influences: A mild day with a temperature of plus 3.1 degrees celsius recorded at 930 metres. A dry morning with rain showers from early afternoon. South to South-South-East gale force winds throughout. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is thawing with significant snow loss at lower levels. The majority of the snow is soft and generally stable but moderately bonded layers persist within deeper snow on West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Avalanche debris was noted on a North facing aspect. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
