Forecast Snow Stability: By the end of the forecast period, there will be pockets of unstable windslab building in steep wind sheltered terrain, mainly on West to North aspects above 800 metres. Typically, coire rims and ridge flanks will be affected and it will be generally lying on bare ground. The patchy old snow will be refrozen and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Snow is forecast throughout the period, greatest amounts in the afternoon and generally lying above 400 metres elevation. Fresh Northerly winds will become light overnight, veering Easterly and freshening again through the day. The freezing level will progressively drop to around 500 metres by dawn, lower inland. Observed Weather Influences: A mild day with persistent rain, drizzle and widespread hill fog. Fresh to strong North-West wind. The freezing level remained above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: A much depleted snow cover with significant recent snow loss. The old snow that remains is wet, patchy and generally stable. Many summits and hillsides are bare, with most snow lingering on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
