Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack that is largely confined to North-West through North to North-Westerly aspects above 800 metres will be frozen and stable throughout. Some new accumulations of snow will begin to form from mid afternoon above 800 metres on Northerly to North-Easterly aspects but accumulations are not expected to be significant. Forecast Weather Influences: Freezing level generally around 600m overnight and during the day before it rises sharply late afternoon to well above the summits. Winds moderate strength Westerly backing South-South-Westerly during the afternoon and becoming gale force. A mostly dry day is expected but precipitation falling as sleet and snow above 800m or so from mid afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Rain at all levels overnight dying out during the day leaving a bright dry day. Winds, Strong South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: Any snow cover is largely confined to North-West through North to North-Easterly aspects above 800m and although moist is stable throughout.
