Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs above approximately 1800 m. Natural avalanches are the main danger.

Natural avalanches are possible above approximately 1800 m. This applies especially on steep slopes especially above approximately 1800 m, and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls.

Snowpack Structure

Below approximately 1700 m hardly any snow is lying. The rain will give rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the old snowpack below approximately 1800 m. At high altitude the avalanche danger is one level higher. The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger. On steep slopes and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls the avalanche danger is moderate (level 2).
