Avalanche Activity

The weather conditions will bring about a rise in the avalanche danger in the late morning.

The weather will be very warm. Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day. Avalanches are possible in the late morning, but they can be large in isolated cases. In the event of solar radiation this applies in particular on rocky slopes. The wind slabs of the last few days can still be released and generally at elevated altitudes. Dry slab avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones. Backcountry tours, off-piste skiing and ascents to alpine cabins should be concluded before midday.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack consists of rounded crystals. This applies in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. The surface of the snowpack is frozen, but not to a significant depth and will soften quickly. The spring-like weather conditions will give rise to rapid settling of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. In particular at intermediate and high altitudes there is still a very large amount of snow.

Tendency

As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural avalanche activity will decrease.
