LO for 29/1. Snowpack refreezing during the day, well consolidated and stable. Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be well consolidated and stable. The existing snowpack will begin to refreeze as the freezing level lowers during the morning. Main accumulations will remain in high North and East facing corries. Any new snow that falls during the day is not expected to be significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mild wet and windy overnight. After dawn any showers will become light and turn to snow above 500 metres, as the freezing level lowers. Very strong South-Westerly winds will veer West-North-Westerly during the morning and decrease in strength through the day. Observed Weather Influences: An increasingly wet day with strong South-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose to just above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: There is a thin layer of new snow above 900 metres which is rapidly thawing in the mild conditions. The old snow is well consolidated and stable and continues to gradually thaw and diminish. The avalanche hazard is Low.
