Forecast Snow Stability: The majority of the snowpack will be well bonded and stable. Localised accumulations of mostly shallow and avoidable windslab will form in wind sheltered locations on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Good cover will be encountered above 800 metres with very limited and patchy cover below this altitude. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate snowfall overnight, initially above 950 metres, later above 750 metres, easing by daybreak. Fresh Northerly winds increasing to become strong by mid-morning. 700 metre freezing level, rising slightly to 800 metres during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Light intermittent precipitation falling as snow, initially above 750 metres, later 900 metres. Strong Southerly winds. Freezing level 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: New snow amounts are generally insignificant with localised and shallow accumulations of windslab forming only in the most wind sheltered locations on West to North aspects above 900 metres. The vast majority of the snow is well bonded and stable. Surface layers are softening below 900 metres. Generally good cover above 800 metres, becoming limited and very patchy below this altitude. The avalanche hazard is Low.
