Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on extremely steep shady slopes at high altitude. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. As the day progresses as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be only a slight increase in the danger of wet and gliding avalanches. In particular on steep east, south and west facing slopes small and medium-sized wet and gliding avalanches are possible below approximately 2600 m. Gliding avalanches can also in isolated cases reach large size. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided. Backcountry tours and ascents to alpine cabins should be concluded timely.

During a night of clear skies, a crust capable of bearing loads will form on sunny slopes over widespread areas. As a consequence of daytime warming and solar radiation this crust will thaw and the snowpack will subsequently forfeit its stability. Wet-snow and gliding avalanches are then possible. During the last few days there have been only few wet-snow avalanches recorded in spite of mild temperatures and sunny skies. In the inneralpine and the southern regions of Grisons more than anywhere else, as well as in the southern Valais, deeply embedded inside the snowpack there are pronounced weak layers evident. These layers react with particular sensitivity to moistening. Moist and wet avalanches can sweep away these deeper layers inside the snowpack or avalanches can fracture directly in them. They can be triggered by persons in some places. The snowpack on south-facing slopes below approximately 2800 m, on east-facing and west-facing slopes below approximately 2400 m, and on north-facing slopes below approximately 1600 m, is thoroughly wet.

Following a night of clear skies it was sunny during the daytime hours. Fresh snow: - Temperature: At midday at 2000 m: +5 °C. Wind: Winds were blowing predominantly at light strength. Nighttime skies will be clear over widespread areas. Nocturnal outgoing longwave radiation will be somewhat reduced in the Engadine. During the daytime it will be sunny. Fresh snow: - Temperature: At midday at 2000 m: +5 °C. Wind: Winds will be blowing at light to moderate strength from southerly directions.

Nighttime skies will be predominantly clear, daytime hours generally sunny. The zero-degree level will lie at 2500 m. Winds will be predominantly light. The avalanche situation is favourable during the mornings. During the course of each day, danger of wet-snow and gliding avalanches increases. Backcountry tours and ascents to mountain huts should be terminated sufficiently early in the day.
