Avalanche Activity

Light snowfall: Slight increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the new snow.

The new snow is bonding poorly with the old snowpack. On very steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes and above approximately 2500 m individual small dry loose snow avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. Avalanches can additionally be released in deep layers, in particular by large additional loads. This applies in particular above approximately 2500 m, in particular on extremely steep northeast, north and west facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The wintry weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in some cases in particular at intermediate and high altitudes. This snow will be deposited on a crust. The fresh snow as well as the small wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack above approximately 2500 m. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on steep northeast, north and northwest facing slopes.
