In sintesi

West-southwest winds increased around midnight and at the upper elevations are redistributing available snow onto the leeward aspects. Continued strong west-southwest to west winds and new snow will create shallow pockets of new wind slab as the day progresses. The hazard at the upper elevations will increase as these wind slabs gain depth and volume. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations.

At the upper elevations westerly winds will create pockets of dense wind slabs up to a foot in depth. These slabs could be human triggered in steep wind loaded avalanche starting zones and cliff areas.

Avalanche Discussion

Dryer conditions are expected overnight with a few scattered snow showers. Areas of light snowfall that could bring an inch or two of snow to the higher elevations are possible on Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the teens during the night time hours and will rise into the 20s and 30s during the day. Winds will be west to southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour.Mostly stable snow exists. Isolated pockets of wind slab will be a concern at the upper elevations. These shallow wind slabs could be human triggered in cliff areas, in steep couloirs and on steep hanging snowfields. In isolated areas in the Togwotee Pass and Greys River areas deep hard slabs could be human triggered in steep active avalanche paths. Although the general avalanche hazard is mostly LOW areas of MODERATE hazard persist.
