LOW hazard does not mean no hazard. Backcountry travelers might still be able to trigger an isolated pocket of wind slab failing on the old snow surface in terrain that had an existing snowpack prior to the recent storm cycle. These areas are primarily high elevation slopes without southerly aspects, and the old snow surface is either a firm crust or dry, old snow in the most shaded terrain. As the day warms, these slabs could become more susceptible to failure, and the chance for shallow wet loose slides will also develop. Monitor temperatures and the sun’s effect on the snowpack. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid elevations, and snow depths at the lower elevations are insufficient for avalanche activity.

Skies will be mostly cloudy overnight and mostly sunny during the day. Temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s in the mountains and 30 to 50s in the valleys. Winds will be south-southwest at 5 to 15 miles per hour.Sunshine and warm temperatures have enabled the snowpack to settle and consolidate. Avalanches are unlikely except in isolated pockets at the highest elevations. Normal caution is advised.
