The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet. Unstable slabs, up to two feet in depth, lie upon a base of weak, faceted snow. These slabs could be triggered by the first skier or snow machine to cross a steep slope, or after a slope has seen multiple tracks. Evaluate terrain and snow stability carefully. At the lower elevations, where there is significantly less snow, the general avalanche hazard is LOW.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Light, scattered snow showers may linger Monday night and into Tuesday, but significant accumulations are not expected. Mountain temperatures will remain near 20 and ridgetop winds will back to the south at 10 to 20 miles per hour.In western Wyoming, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE above 8,000 feet on Tuesday. Backcountry riders and skiers could trigger surface slabs two to three feet in depth in steep terrain where early season snow persisted.
