The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW this morning but may increase to MODERATE by evening. Shallow pockets of wind slab could be released on steep, wind-loaded slopes. The possibility of backcountry travelers triggering one of these slides will increase with rapid snowfall rates in the afternoon. Avalanches are unlikely below 8,500 feet.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A Pacific storm system will bring snow to the Western Wyoming mountains Tuesday. The fast moving event may reach snowfall rates of an inch an hour with accumulations of six inches possible by Wednesday morning. Daytime high temperatures at 10,000 feet will be in the upper twenties and winds will increase to 35 miles per hour from the southwest by Tuesday morning. The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to begin at LOW Tuesday morning and increase during the day with strong winds and heavy snowfall. Graupel in the upper snowpack and weak layers just a few inches below the surface will not support rapid loading and easily triggered soft slabs will be possible by afternoon.
