In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Backcountry travelers will have the ability to trigger the new snow as sluffs or as small soft slabs where it lies upon hard snow at the higher elevations. The greater hazard involves old weaknesses that persist near the base of the snowpack. In steep avalanche terrain, the possibility continues to trigger dangerous hard slab avalanches in limited but hard to predict areas. The triggering of these slabs will likely require larger loads such as snowmobiles or groups of riders or skiers however one person traveling over a particularly weak, thin point on the slope could initiate such a slide.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Areas of light to moderate snowfall are expected tonight and Friday. Winds with this system are expected to be light from the West. Highs on Friday are to be in the mid twenties. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate on Friday. In steep terrain, the possibility to trigger dangerous hard slab avalanches exists in limited but hard to predict areas. The triggering of the slabs will likely require larger loads such as snowmobiles or groups of riders or skiers however it could be caused by even one person who crosses a particularly weak spot on the slope could cause the failure.
