At the upper elevations weak faceted snow on a crust at the base of the snowpack is still a potential concern on steep, northerly aspects. Humans who venture into cliff areas or steep avalanches starting zones could trigger slab avalanches up to 30 inches deep on this problem layer. At the mid and lower elevations the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely.

Light snow will taper off this evening as a ridge of high pressure builds in over the area. Dry conditions are expected to continue through the Thanksgiving holiday. On Wednesday skies will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will rise into the 30s in the mountains and to near 40 at the lowest elevations. Winds will be southwest at 20 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet). At the upper elevations pockets of slab up to two feet in depth could be human triggered on steep northerly aspects. Warmer temperatures may increase the sensitivity of these slabs to human triggers. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations where the general avalanched hazard is expected to be LOW.
