In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE at the upper elevations and LOW at elevations below 9,000 feet. Skiers or riders could trigger surface slabs up to 18 inches in depth on steep wind loaded aspects. These slabs have the potential of stepping down to deeper instabilities, particularly in shallower areas near cliff bands and rock outcroppings where a more faceted snowpack has developed . At the low elevations, below freezing overnight temperatures have led to mostly stable conditions.

Avalanche Discussion

Moisture in the southwest flow will bring light snow to the peaks tonight ahead of a weather system that will move into the region Monday into Monday night. Snow is expected at mid and upper elevations and rain in the valleys by midday. HIgh temepratures at 10,000 feet will be in the upper twenties and winds will be southwesterly at 25 to 30 mph.AVALANCHE HAZARD FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS/CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AND GREYS RIVER/SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREASMonday the general avlanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations and LOW in the morning at elevations below 9,000 feet. Skiers or riders could trigger surface slabs up to 18 inches in depth tomorrow on steep wind loaded aspects, with the potential of stepping down to deeper layers, particularly near cliff bands and rock outcroppings. It may become more difficult to trigger a slide which means the second or later person on a slope may be the trigger. At the low elevations, mostly stable snow exists although with forecasted rain, once again the chance of wet slides may increase. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
