Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche if you find a weaker, thinner area of the snowpack where you can more easily impact deep weak layers . Upper-elevation slopes are still where you are still more likely to trigger an avalanche. Avoid places where the snow cover thins, such as rocky areas and steep rollovers, where you can more easily impact deeper weak layers and trigger a more dangerous avalanche. Weak layers have formed in the upper two feet of the snowpack so evaluate the upper-snowpack before committing to steep terrain. You can find safer riding on slopes less than about 35 degrees or on slopes sheltered from the wind at lower elevations.
