Predawn temperatures in the mountains are generally in the mid to lower 20s and are starting out a few degrees degrees cooler than the same time yesterday morning. Snow surfaces are comprised of stout crusts and the snowpack is mostly stable, however the hazard will increase as the day progresses and snow surfaces thaw. Steep, avalanche prone slopes and extreme terrain should be avoided after significant softening of the snow surfaces has occurred.

A Pacific low pressure trough will move inland into Central Wyoming. Light snowfall is expected to develop in the mountains overnight and continue through the day. Favored areas could receive five to eight inches before skies clear on Saturday. The snowfall will be accompanied by southwest winds at 15 to 25 miles per hour. Temperatures will be in the teens and 20s.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW but will increase in upper elevation avalanche starting zones as the day progresses. Isolated pockets of new soft slab six to 12 inches deep are expected to form and could be human triggered in cliff areas and the entrances to steep couloirs.
