Isolated pockets of very shallow soft slab lie upon slick old snow surfaces and could be triggered by skiers or riders in very steep terrain. These slabs are limited in size and pose a hazard to those who venture into cliff areas, steep couloirs, corniced areas and onto steep slopes above terrain traps.

Some flurries and light snow Friday night will diminish under partly cloudy skies on Saturday. Some light snow may move into the Salt and Wyoming Ranges as a storm system passes to the south. Temperatures are expected to be 15 degrees below at sunrise and warm to 10 degrees above zero in the afternoon. Light southerly winds are expected. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON AREA, PORTIONS OF THE TOGWOTEE PASS / CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AREA WEST OF AND ALONG THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AND THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE GREYS RIVER / SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREA: The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Mostly stable snow exists and avalanches are unlikley except in isolated pockets. Use caution in extreme terrain. FOR THE UPPER GREEN RIVER BASIN AND THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE GREYS RIVER / SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREA. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Areas of soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth exist. Caution is advised on steep slopes with significant accumulations of new snow. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
