Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW at all elevations. At Upper elevations strong winds and daily light snow has developed isolated pockets of soft surface slabs to a foot in depth. The slabs are on very steep terrain in lee areas near ridgecrests. Be alert to the consequenses of small slides over cliffs, into trees or ravines.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Light snow will exit the area Monday night and a brief ridge will give broken clouds until late Tuesday morning when a moist southwest flow ahead of another system will bring snow again. Snow totals by Tuesday evening will be in the 3 to 5 inch range and will continue Tuesday night. Mountain temperatures will climb from five degrees tomorrow morning to the low twenties during the day. Winds will be south to southwesterly at fifteen to twenty mph.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The general avalanche hazard will increase to MODERATE at Upper elevations by tomorrow afternoon with new snow and wind. Fast, loose sloughs and soft slabs will develop and may be triggered. At Low and Mid elevations only light sloughs are expected and the General Avalanche Hazard will remain LOW. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
