In sintesi

You are most likely to trigger avalanches in the wetter, western portion of this zone at upper elevations in the Soldier Mountains and South Fork of the Boise drainage. If you're heading to these snowier areas, refer to the Sawtooth & Western Smoky Mtns forecast. Most of this zone lacks enough snow to trigger avalanches. Travel in the mountains surrounding the Wood River Valley is difficult, and observations are limited.

Daily Avalanche Forecasts with danger ratings will begin when access improves.

Avalanche Discussion

If there's enough snow to keep your skis or sled off the ground, there's probably enough snow to trigger avalanches. While you're unlikely to trigger avalanches large enough to bury people, even small slides can have severe consequences when snow cover is thin. Think about where an avalanche could carry you—through trees or rocks, into creeks— before committing to skiing, riding, or crossing steep slopes.

Please Submit an Observation, email us ([email protected]), or text us (208-481-5921) if you're out and about in this zone.
